Sheet and plate type
MS Chequered Plates
MS chequered plate has a raised pattern on one face and is specified for fabricated floors, steps, platforms and walkways. The pattern, base thickness, panel dimensions and grade should match the project drawing. Patterned plate is not a substitute for engineered slip-resistance or installation requirements.
Choosing the specified sheet type
When a drawing calls out thickness, check whether it means base plate thickness or an overall measurement including the raised pattern. If the notation is unclear, attach the drawing so the requirement can be confirmed before quoting.

Questions about MS Chequered Plates
What is a chequered plate?
It is a steel plate with a raised surface pattern on one face. The pattern and dimensions should be selected to match the project specification and installation.
Should I specify the base thickness or total thickness?
Use the definition on the drawing or mill specification. If it is not clear whether the measurement includes the raised pattern, send the drawing for confirmation.
Does the sheet-weight estimate include the raised pattern?
No. The estimate uses the base thickness and excludes the raised pattern. Use the manufacturer's stated unit weight for ordering or lifting calculations.
