1. List every material separately
Write one line per item: material type, size, length and quantity. Mixing items in one sentence leads to misunderstandings.
2. Choose a clear unit
Say whether quantity is in pieces, standard lengths, or kilograms/tonnes. Steel is often priced by weight, but many fabricators think in pieces — either is fine if it is stated.
3. Share the delivery location
Include the delivery address area and PIN code, plus any site access restrictions. This affects whether and how delivery can be arranged.
4. Mention requirements early
If you need a particular grade, test certificates, cutting, or a delivery date, say so in the first enquiry.
5. Not sure of the specification?
Describe the job instead: "frame for a 10 ft × 12 ft shed", "gate 4 ft wide". A drawing or photo helps. We can discuss options before quoting.
