Equal-leg angle
- Leg geometry
- Both legs are the same length
- Published size example
- 50 × 50 × 5 mm — listed in SAIL’s structural brochure.
Unequal-leg angle
- Leg geometry
- The two legs have different lengths
- Published size example
- 45 × 30 × 4 mm — listed in Sandeep Steel’s angle reference.
| Profile | Leg geometry | Published size example |
|---|---|---|
| Equal-leg angle | Both legs are the same length | 50 × 50 × 5 mm — listed in SAIL’s structural brochure. |
| Unequal-leg angle | The two legs have different lengths | 45 × 30 × 4 mm — listed in Sandeep Steel’s angle reference. |
These examples come from separate catalogues and are not a like-for-like manufacturer comparison or a Jabbar Traders stock list.
Read the three dimensions
Angle sizes are written as leg × leg × thickness, in millimetres. For an equal-leg angle, the first two dimensions match. For an unequal-leg angle, they differ; keep the long-leg and short-leg order clear when copying the project drawing.
The examples above are specific entries in their cited references, not a complete market range. Published dimensions and weights can vary by producer, section standard and rolling tolerances.
Use the specified profile
Equal and unequal angles are not automatic substitutes. Their section properties and orientation differ. For structural work, use the approved drawing and the qualified engineer’s specification rather than selecting a profile from a size example alone.
If the drawing does not make the leg order, thickness, grade or standard clear, include the drawing revision and ask for clarification before approving a substitute.
What to include in an angle enquiry
Send equal or unequal profile type, both leg dimensions, thickness, grade or standard, required lengths, quantity and unit. Add the preferred make if the project restricts manufacturers, plus any finish, cutting or fabrication notes and the delivery PIN code.
Jabbar Traders is based in Yavatmal and accepts enquiries across India. Manufacturer, availability, price, freight and delivery feasibility are confirmed for the actual quotation.
